They think right and wrong is subject to them. The New Covenant Five-Fold Offices have a stewardship to a righteous scale as established by the foundational Apostles and Prophets of the Old and New Covenant.
False prophets love to put people in fear of them instead of loving others into a higher level of faith & love in the revelation of Christ Jesus.
False prophets and teachers love to indoctrinate others into “blind submission to them” and will use Scripture out of context to accomplish this goal.
There is no room for discussion with the impatient false prophets and teachers —love is hardly ever mentioned except to exploit their selfish ambitions.
Absolute submission TO THEM is the nonnegotiable term for any relationship with a false prophet or teacher — remember they are above others and their ego loves it.
If a Scriptural literate were to say the Bible says XYZ, there would be a moment of intimidation and even threats of punishment, to ignore The Word of God for the word of the false prophet or teacher. If the individual sticks to rightly dividing the Word of God then they are declared a rebel.
The constitution of the United States of Jesus Christ (the New Testament) is NOT the first and final Authority BUT THEY THEMSELVES ARE and they must be followed blindly or there will be consequences. There is usually anger involved (which does not display the righteousness of God - James 1:20) intimidation and immediate excommunication or at least marginalizing and a shunning takes place - in the hopes of either submission or a voluntary departure from Church or ministry.
WARNING ABOUT JUDGING
Though there are many red flags to show us what a false prophet or teacher is; we also need to be aware that some genuine brothers and sisters simply have gotten off into error and falsity. We contend with these people all the time and the Lord wants to give everyone a chance to repent.
In the Old Covenant, if a King, Judge or Prophet were to disobey God, it was a death sentence or disqualification. E.g., A Prophet under specific instructions to not eat or drink until his mission was completed was killed by a lion — 1 Kings 13. Moses was not allowed to enter the Promised Land for striking the rock and did NOT uphold God as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel — Numbers 20:10-13,Deuteronomy 3:23-28. David was not allowed to build the Temple because he murdered Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba — 2 Samuel 11 & 12.
However, in the New Covenant much more mercy is given for the legitimate brother or sister in Christ that may have gone into error; e.g. Paul withstanding Peter to his face (another way of saying he confronted him) for not walking uprightly in the Truth — Galatians 2:11. Peter obviously repented and found mercy because he took the grace of God to repent and found mercy to be restored as a vessel of honor.
