The New Testament Leader is not a ruler and anytime a minister moves over from hallowing God before the congregation, we have at best a misapplied ministry from an ignorant brother or sister; at worst a false brother or sister who is being controlled by devils. All Five-Fold Offices in the New Testament are to lead by example shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.- 1 Peter 5:2-3 ESV.
Church leaders, should guide their followers, not just through words but by demonstrating the Christ-like behavior and character traits through their own actions, acting as a model for their flock to imitate; the "Good Shepherd" who leads by serving and caring for the sheep as Christ did in I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
