It’s typical of the FLESH (the corrupt sinful nature we all were born into) to isolate scripture and even fragmented scripture to build a doctrinal position. Or take a verifiable doctrine and use it out of context.
For example, we reject the demonic doctrine of ABSOLUTE SUBMISSION TO A FIVEFOLD OFFICE (Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and/or Teacher).
This doctrine of absolute submission creates an authority over the Lord Jesus Christ and even the Holy Bible. It was the hallmark attribute of the “Shepherding Era” of the late sixty and early seventies— where the Fivefold Office would with a “pseudo-Holy Spirit” declare two strangers that it was God’s will that they were to be married. It created a type of guru position over a flock of believers who apparently did not understand the Word of God and the dispensation we live in since the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ that decommissioned the role of the Prophet, Priest, and Judge/King from rulership position over a God’s Covenant people who did not have the Holy Spirit nor could they be Born-Again of the Spirit of God. Therefore, it was appropriate to have RULER Prophets, Priests and Judges and later on Kings.
Since the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ, this Old Covenant biblical position is NOT blessed by God and the fruit of any who put others into submission always proves to be bad.
For I through the law I died to the law that I might live to God—Galatians 2:19 NKJV.
Salvation comes through the Jews — John 4:22. No true believer can be an antisemite. We hold the Old Testament as a precious, first class Word of God, however, we read the Old Testament through the Light of the New Testament. the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ change everything for us — it did not change the moral excellence of God— His Holiness is fully intact. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever— Hebrews 13:8. However, the New Testament has declared:
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross."— Colossians 2:14.
But the “Shepherding Era” and its subsequent doctrinal flavors still stands to this day — with or without the long hair, beards and Jesus sandals. It’s been dressed up in three piece suits and yuppie kack slacks or trendy skinny jeans and now accompany with production value that will rival a Las Vegas show.
Most will not publicly preach or teach this doctrinal position but it’s always self evident behind the scenes. Much like a pyramid scheme everyone is to work and sacrifice for one main person.
They will quote Old Testament scripture to reinforce their Biblical Authority of ABSOLUTE SUBMISSION that only belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ.
They will say:
So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”— 2 Chronicles 20:20.
Focusing on the believer the Prophets on everything without two or more witnesses of clarification.
It’s very similar to what Paul went through in the first generation of Christianity.
They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you — Galatians 4:17-18 KJV.
Paul is warning the Galatian Christians about false teachers (like the Judaizers) who are pretending with intense passion and affection for them to put them into submission to their genetic rewrite of the Way— later to be called Christianity. This just as the Shepherding Era of the sixties and seventies is about getting people to submit to their own ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY. Not biblical pastoral authority based on the authority of the Scriptures.
We righteously fight the good fight of faith over this very paramount dogma—
“DOGMA — A principle or set of principles laid down by an authority as incontrovertibly true — New Oxford American Dictionary.
Even though the doctrinal position of AUTHORITY BASED ON SCRIPTURE not charismata should be a no brainer. It is actually in some circles controversial.
Brain washed people who live in fear of another human being because of their demonic intensity and utter belief they are a RULING PROPHET that must be obeyed even if they violate the holy Word of God is just about the saddest thing to see because this doesn’t just effect peoples time, talent and treasure but this effects families on a generational level, it goes deeper than a wallet— these doctrines get into their minds and they become subservient to these demonic narcissistic leaders who can do no wrong and everything they say is a holy utterance even if it’s factually wrong.
Right here we can see with the scriptures what qualifies a Prophet to be a Prophet both Old Testament and New Testament:
So Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground— 1 Samuel 3:19 NKJV.
Many false Prophets and those who believe they have God’s Anointing to be in ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY often sound like they are hearing from God but they are not. The Holy Spirit is NEVER factually wrong and a genuine Prophet NEVER misses it. This is why we declare the Scriptures infallible because the Holy Scriptures were written by the Holy Spirit through holy men of God. We refer to this type of Prophet and Apostle as FOUNDATIONAL PROPHETS AND APOSTLES. The NEW TESTAMENT PROPHET is NOT A FOUNDATIONAL PROPHET that spoke and wrote the Scriptures. Many of the prophets of the SHEPHERDING ERA believe wrongly that they are FOUNDATIONAL PROPHETS. Their track records alone should tell a wide awake Christian they are not just by the biblical dogma that there are factual errors and that they prophesy things that do not come to pass.
Moses, the Old Testament Prophet warns us to NOT fear these false Prophets:
When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.
The command is NOT to reverence, dread, or be feel bound by the words spoken by these presumptuous individuals. In fact the Law of Moses was to put them to death.
That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he has urged rebellion against the Lord your God... You must purge the evil from you —Deuteronomy 13:5.
However, the putting to death act did not survive the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ. In our dispensation — the age of the Church which about to come to an end— we do not put to death these presumptuous fools of speak their imagination as though they are hearing from God. We do however, do not fear or obey them.
All biblical New Covenant leadership and even Prophecy has this in common:
NEVER SUBJECTIVE,
NEVER SELF SERVING
NEVER BULLYS
NEVER VIOLATES THE ESTABLISHED WORD OF GOD IN ITS PROPER DISPENSATION, CONTEXT OR DEFINITION.
NEVER SUBJECTIVE:
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation — 2 Peter 1:20.
There is no redefining its context or definition of words.
NEVER SELF SERVING
Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I did not shrink back from declaring to you the whole will of God — Acts 20:26 NKJV.
I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. You yourselves know that these hands of mine have ministered to my own needs and those of my companions. In everything, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”— Acts 20:33—35 NKJV.
NEVER BULLYS
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them— Matthew 20:25 KJV.
The Classic Amplified Bible fleshes it out for us even more clearer:
And Jesus called them to Him and said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men hold them in subjection [tyrannizing over them]— Matthew 20:25 AMPC.
Then He gives the command:
It shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many— Matthew 20:27 KJV.
The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away— 1 Peter 5:1–4 KJV.
NEVER VIOLATES THE ESTABLISHED WORD OF GOD IN ITS PROPER DISPENSATION, CONTEXT OR DEFINITION— INFACT GUIDES WITH IT
And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding— Jeremiah 3:15.
Probably the biggest hallmark tell that something is wrong with the Pastorship or overseer of a church or minister is this— they do not lead with Scriptural knowledge and understanding — it’s only their vision and their so called leadings or prophecies that are indisputable not because they are accurate and come to pass but because of the virtue of their title — even if they contradict what the Bible says.
If He called them gods unto whom the Word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken)— John 10:35 KJV.
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever — Isaiah 40:8.
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? — Numbers 23:19.
For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven — Psalm 119:89.
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it — Isaiah 55:11.
The prime example of the enemy perverting the Word of God besides EVE in the Garden is with the Lord Jesus Christ in the desert.
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread— Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread — Matthew 4:3 NKJV.
ALL COUNTERFEIT AUTHORITY CHALLENGES YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORD OF GOD AND YOUR IDENTITY:
Jesus responded with the Word of God from Deuteronomy 8:3.
Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God — Matthew 4:3.
